During this session, James and Irina discuss what financial professionals ought to know about estate planning, how it intersects with family law, and the role domestic contracts play in determining how property, support, and other matters should be dealt with upon breakdown of the relationship.

Through a series of case studies involving domestic contracts, James and Irina will discuss how estate planning and family law interplay, including dealings with crossborder situations. You will also learn how the changing concept of family—including the recognition of same-sex marriage, amendments to adoption laws and the inclusion of other types of relationships, such as polygamy—may affect child and spousal support claims upon the termination of such relationships.
