The presentation will focus on the intersection of estate planning and divorce, with the goal of helping attendees understand how they are uniquely situated to help their clients achieve more sound planning and divorce outcomes. We will focus on common errors clients make in completing their financial disclosure affidavits and planning items that are often overlooked in marital settlement agreements and Orders for Dissolution.

In addition, we will review special estate planning situations that should be addressed during a divorce, such as irrevocable trusts and planning for children with special needs. We will also discuss when estate planning documents should be reviewed and updated in connection with a divorce, and how divorce impacts existing planning documents, asset titling, and beneficiary designations.
